🎮 Game Overview

Family Bingo Night is a fun twist on classic bingo! Players compete to get 5 numbers in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) while completing fun challenges along the way.

👥 Player Setup

• Add Players: Enter names and ages for each player (minimum 2 players)
• Choose Colors: Use the color dropdown next to each player to select their card color. Each player must have a unique color. Already-used colors will be disabled in the dropdown.
• Color Preview: The colored box shows the current color selection, and the dropdown border matches the selected color
• Age-Appropriate Challenges: Tasks are automatically adjusted based on each player's age
• Add/Remove: Use the "➕ Add Player" button to add more players, or click "✕ Remove" to remove players (minimum 2 required)

🎯 Challenge Categories

Select which types of challenges you want in your game. Each category has different difficulty levels based on player age:

• 😜 Silly & Fun: Dancing, animal sounds, funny faces, and silly movements
• 🔢 Math Challenges: Addition, subtraction, multiplication (age-appropriate)
• 🧠 Trivia: General knowledge questions, history, science, and fun facts
• 📝 Word Play: Rhyming, spelling, word games, and tongue twisters
• 🎨 Creative Tasks: Storytelling, drawing, charades, and creative thinking

Tip: Check all categories for maximum variety!

⚡ Challenge Frequency

Controls how often special challenges appear during the game:

• Rare (5%): Challenges appear very infrequently
• Low (10%): Occasional challenges
• Medium (15%): Balanced mix (default)
• High (25%): Frequent challenges
• Very High (35%): Challenge-heavy gameplay

🎮 Special Event Buttons (Real-Life Interruptions!)

These buttons are for REAL-LIFE EVENTS that happen during your game!

The idea is to name each button after something funny or unexpected that might actually happen while you're playing:

• 🐕 Dog Barks - For when your dog starts barking
• 🔔 Doorbell Rings - For when someone's at the door
• 💨 Someone Farts - For when... well, you know!
• 📱 Phone Rings - For unexpected phone calls
• 😴 Mom Falls Asleep - For when mom dozes off
• 🚗 Car Alarm - For random car alarms
• ⚡ Power Flickers - For electrical hiccups

How to Set Up:

1. Enable the button: Check the box to activate it
2. Name the event: Enter what real-life event will trigger it (e.g., "🐕 Dog Barks")
3. Choose the challenge: Pick what task a random player must do when this event happens:
   • 💪 Physical: Push-ups, jumping jacks, squats, planks
   • 😜 Silly: Tell a joke, do a dance, make funny faces
   • 🏠 Helpful: Take out trash, organize something, clean up
   • 🎨 Creative: Tell a story, make up a rhyme, draw in the air
   • 💝 Social: Give compliments, say thank you, give hugs
   • ⚡ Quick: Spin around, hop, balance on one foot
4. During the game: When the real event happens, press the keyboard shortcut (D, M, F, or N) and a random player gets assigned that challenge!

Example Setup:

Button 1: Name it "🐕 Dog Barks" → Choose "Do 5 Push-ups"
Now when your dog barks during the game, press D and someone has to drop and do push-ups!

Pro Tip: The funnier and more random the event, the more hilarious your game will be! 😄

📋 Manage Challenges

Fine-tune which specific challenges can appear in your game:

• Click Category: Click any category header to expand and see all tasks
• Enable/Disable Tasks: Uncheck any task you don't want to appear (e.g., if a child can't do certain physical activities)
• Stays Open: Categories remain expanded while you toggle tasks
• Saved Preferences: Your disabled tasks are remembered during your session

➕ Add Custom Challenges:

Each category has a blue "Add Custom Challenge" section at the bottom where you can create your own personalized challenges!

• Question/Challenge Field: Enter your custom challenge (e.g., "Name all the cousins!" or "What's 15 x 12?")
• Answer Field (Optional): Enter the answer for quiz-type challenges. Leave blank for action challenges like "Do 10 pushups!"
• Answer Display: During gameplay, a "👁️ Show Answer" button appears if you provided an answer
• Custom Examples:
  • Family trivia: "What year did we visit Disney?" (Answer: 2023)
  • Educational: "Spell 'necessary'" (Answer: N-E-C-E-S-S-A-R-Y)
  • Fun actions: "Show us your best magic trick!" (No answer needed)
• Delete Custom: Click the red ✕ button to remove any custom challenge
• Persistence: Custom challenges are saved in your browser and remembered across games!

🎲 How to Play

1. Start Game: Click "START GAME!" after setting up players and preferences
2. Call Numbers: Press SPACE or click "📢 Call Number" to call a random bingo number
3. Mark Cards: Numbers are automatically marked on all player cards that have them
4. Random Challenges: Based on your frequency setting, challenges may appear after calling a number
   • The current player must complete the challenge within the time limit
   • Click "✓ I DID IT!" if successful (earn a point!)
   • Click "✗ I COULDN'T" if failed (no penalty)
5. Turn Order: Turns automatically rotate (youngest to oldest)
6. Active Player: The current player's card moves to the first position and has a glowing border
7. Win: First player to get 5 in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) wins!

⭐ Special Features During Gameplay

• Special Card (S): The oldest player can use this ONCE per game to call a specific number they need
• Show Answer Button: For Math/Trivia/Word challenges, click "👁️ Show Answer" to see the correct answer (only the host should see this!)
• Penalty System: Click "🚫 Remove Random Mark" on any player's card to remove a random marked number as punishment for bad behavior
• Special Event Buttons: When something funny happens in real life (dog barks, doorbell rings, someone farts, etc.), press D, M, F, or N to trigger the challenge you set up for that event!
• 🔊 Sound Toggle: Click the sound button (🔊 Sound On / 🔇 Sound Off) to mute or unmute all game sounds. Your preference is saved!
• 🏆 Leaderboard: Click the "🏆 Leaderboard" button to view the Hall of Fame showing all winners across all games. Tracks total wins and last win date for each player. Medals: 🥇 🥈 🥉 for top 3!
• Quit Game: Click "🚪 Quit Game" to end the current game and return to setup (all progress will be lost)

💾 Settings Persistence

• Saved Permanently (Survives Browser Refresh):
  • Custom challenges you create
  • Leaderboard wins and player statistics
  • Sound mute preference (🔊/🔇)
• Session Based (Reset on Page Refresh):
  • Player names and ages you enter
  • Challenge categories you enable/disable
  • Individual tasks you disable
  • Challenge frequency settings
• Play Again: If you click "Play Again" after a game, all your session settings are remembered!
• Reset Button: Click "🔄 Reset to Defaults" to clear all session settings back to defaults (won't clear leaderboard or custom challenges)

• Disable challenges that aren't age-appropriate for younger players
