Creating Custom Challenge Packs
While Family Bingo Game comes with hundreds of challenges already built in, creating your own custom challenges can make game night even more special. This guide shares ideas for themed challenge packs and tips for designing challenges that work for your family.

We're working on a feature that will let you create, save, and share your own custom challenge packs directly in the game. In the meantime, use these ideas to supplement your regular gameplay with verbal add-on challenges!
Designing Effective Challenges
Good challenges share several characteristics. Keep these principles in mind when creating your own:
- Clear Instructions: Challenges should be understood immediately without explanation
- Appropriate Duration: 15 to 45 seconds is ideal for most challenges
- Achievable: Challenges should be completable by the intended age group
- Fun to Watch: The best challenges are entertaining for observers too
- Safe: No challenge should risk injury or require dangerous activities
- Family Friendly: Keep all content appropriate for all ages present
Christmas/Winter Holidays
Physical Challenges:
- Walk like a penguin across the room
- Pretend to build a snowman (all the motions!)
- Do your best reindeer gallop
- Act out opening the best present ever
Creative Challenges:
- Sing a holiday song in a silly voice
- Name 5 things on your holiday wish list
- Act out a scene from your favorite holiday movie
- Create a new verse for Jingle Bells
Halloween
Spooky Fun:
- Do your scariest monster impression
- Walk like a zombie for 15 seconds
- Make a witch's cackle that lasts 10 seconds
- Name 7 things you could be for Halloween
- Tell a mildly scary ghost story in 30 seconds
Thanksgiving
Gratitude & Fun:
- Name 5 things you're thankful for
- Strut like a turkey
- Act out your favorite Thanksgiving food being made
- Say something nice about each person playing
Make birthday game nights extra special with challenges about the birthday person!
Birthday Themed Challenges:
- Sing "Happy Birthday" in an opera voice
- Act out blowing out candles and making a wish
- Name 3 great things about [birthday person]
- Do a birthday dance celebration
- Pretend to open a present and act surprised
- Name [age] things that are awesome about being [age]
- Give the birthday person a verbal gift by describing something you wish you could give them
Birthday Tip: Let the birthday person be the "judge" for creative challenges, deciding if attempts are successful. It gives them a special role throughout the game!
Beach & Summer Challenges:
- Pretend to swim across the room
- Do a surfing pose and hold it for 10 seconds
- Act like you just stepped on hot sand
- Make the sound of ocean waves
- Name 5 things you'd pack for a beach day
- Pretend to build a sandcastle
- Do your best seagull impression
Road Trip Challenges:
- Play air guitar to your favorite road trip song
- Act out being car sick (dramatically!)
- Name 5 states/places you'd like to visit
- Pretend to spot something amazing out the car window
Combine movie night with game night using challenges based on popular films!
General Movie Challenges:
- Act out a scene from your favorite movie (others guess)
- Do your best movie villain laugh
- Strike a superhero pose
- Say a famous movie quote in a silly voice
- Name 5 movies that start with the letter [random letter]
- Recreate a famous movie poster pose
Disney/Animation Challenges:
- Sing a line from any Disney song
- Act like your favorite Disney character
- Name 7 Disney movies in 20 seconds
- Do the Frozen "Let It Go" pose
- Walk like a character from Toy Story
The most memorable challenges reference your family's inside jokes, memories, and traditions!
Ideas for Personal Touches:
- Recreate [family member]'s signature dance move
- Imitate how [family member] laughs
- Act out the story of [family memory]
- Say [family catchphrase] in 3 different voices
- Name everyone's favorite [food/movie/song]
- Do an impression of the family pet
- Recreate a moment from a family vacation
Memory Tip: Keep a running list of funny family moments throughout the year. These make perfect challenge inspiration for future game nights!
Tips for Running Custom Challenges
Until our custom challenge creator is released, here's how to add your own challenges during gameplay:
- Prepare a List: Write down your custom challenges before game night
- Announce When: Decide if custom challenges replace random ones or are bonuses
- Read Clearly: Designate someone to read challenges aloud clearly
- Time Them: Use your phone's timer to keep things fair
- Be Flexible: Adjust challenges on the fly if they're not working
